Gun owner saves family from escaped murderer

Rafael McCloud was arrested last year for his role in the brutal rape and murder of a 69 year old woman last year: Inital Report
On March 2, McCloud escaped from the Warren County jail with a homemade shank he used to take a deputy hostage, but eventually let him go. He has been on the run ever since, but that ended this morning. From the Vicksburg Post, "McCloud allegedly entered the home through an unsecured garage done at about 4:30 a.m. when the man in the home went out to start the car.
McCloud held a man, woman and toddler hostage. At about 7 a.m., one of the two adult hostages was able to get to a gun and shot McCloud, reportedly killing him."

From the online reports and friends in the area, the inmate and an accomplice approached the man as he cranked up his truck for work and forced the man inside. They tried to rape the wife, but the husband rushed them and got the gun. He took out McCloud, but the other guy is still on the run. When McCloud was originally arrested, his nephew Akeem was held for a bit, but eventually released due to lack of evidence.

Although I guess "gun owner" may not be as accurate (unless he is otherwise) as "man uses gun to save family".

It's a good thing he's dead. Baffling why a guy serving his sentence was in Warren County of all places, where it only takes 2 brain cells to escape.
