He still got it comped though

The one good quality about the jerk manager that we got towards the end of my employment was that he was a total dick to these people.

He wouldn't comp anyone's anything without solid proof and it being a legit reason. He wasn't the type to put his tail between his legs and give a free meal to a screaming black woman.

Yep.

My black work friends get all meat well done at work lunches/dinners. I give them so much shite about it

Most chain restaurants don't prepare everything in house though. J Alexanders is not a place that receives a bunch of prepackaged steaks or fish filets a couple times a week. They hand cut everything there as well as prepare every sauce from scratch. For all they put into it, it's amazing that you receive the amount of high quality food that you do at a pretty reasonable price.

That doesn't mean the guy purposely went against your wishes to frick up your steak.

Steak temperatures being wrong just happens. Has happened to me before and I'm as white as the driven snow. (also like my steaks so rare they moooo on the plate)

Same, our GM comps any and everything no matter how bullshite it is. We have a regular(white guy) who comes in every week and never tips. He always starts off his meal with soup and each time complains that it is cold so he gets it for free. And our manager comps it every time. I had him a couple months ago and warned the kitchen to make sure his soup comes out piping hot. We sent it out boiling and steaming hot and sure enough he complains its cold. I said "sir, its boiling" and he said "don't argue with me, I am the customer, I want to speak with your manager". So she comes over and he says the soup is too runny(backup excuse I guess) and she comps his entire bill because I argued with him and I got in trouble, wasn't allowed to close for a week just because I called him out on his BS.

The only manager we had that resisted moved to Arizona.

I've never been a server and generally hate it when they complain about not making money. Now I find out you frickers make about $20 an hour.

Tipping is actually one of the hottest issues on the OT. People are passionate about it.

Is this a joke?

Every time our office goes to a high end steakhouse, every single one of the black employees (and it doesn't matter if they are a low or high level employee) orders theirs Well Done. Some asked that it be butterflied as well.

And we aren't talking Sizzler stakes, try Ruth's or Morton's or Doris Metropolitan.

Nothing pisses me off more than tables who bitch at me and tip me poorly or stiff me because of problems that weren't my fault. Steak or food temp is one of the main ones. Or long ticket times. Or being out of something. Or bar drinks taking 10 minutes because its a Friday Night and there are 30 open bar tickets and only 3 bartenders to make them as well as tend to their bar guests.

I got a good 3-4 minute lecture this past monday. These two girls came in at 9:55(we close at 10:00) and our GM told the kitchen to dump everything right as they came in and I got sat with them. We didn't have much avaliable for them to eat because we threw most stuff out and they bitched at me and stiffed me because of how limited our menu was.

Interesting topic, good posters, surprising lack of moron posters, hasn't degenerated into personal attacks...overall it's been surprisingly pleasant.
