Denver reporter won’t share the name

LINK

quote:

The 21-year-old suspected gunman — whose name I won’t be sharing here — is from Arvada. He’s facing 10 counts of murder. Still in the hospital for his leg wound, but should be released soon per the #Boulder DA. He’ll be booked into the Boulder County Jail.

They took his fb page down fast. Why?

FWIW, he had several fb friends with his last name in that same Colorado area.

To be fair, sometimes people do this so the shooters don't become famous. I don't know this individual reporter though, so it could for either reason.

Orgs like CNN have a history of the same behavior so we can assume their intentions.

The race, ethnicity, and background of this shooter will become a focal point as well. I guess it didn't happen quite quick enough for y'all though? I am not saying it won't be reported a bit different, but y'all are exaggerating the shite out of it because your level of emotional investment.

Who's emotionally invested? I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy from our media.

I don't think you know me or my post/personal history, so I don't blame you for thinking this.

But I promise I'm not emotionally invested in this and do not have the political leanings you think I do.

I just like to point out how absurd the media is depending on the topic. They have clear agendas and they should be called out for it.

No, not perceived. It's all right there in the open. It's up to you whether you can be objective enough to see it or not.

I'm not a republican or democrat. So don't think I'm on one "side" or another.

Is there like a flow chart for media action in these scenarios? Obviously the first box would be “What color is the shooter?” If “black” then “Kill the story” of “white” then “what kind of white?” And on and on

I fully acknowledge that it exists in some capacity, but it is undoubtedly overblown. I will leave y'all to your jumping to conclusions and grasping for media narratives now

Terribly sad for the Boulder community and those directly impacted

I agree and said that basically in the same post you selectively quoted to remove context.

But there are times when that happens and I was giving an individual journalist the benefit of the doubt.

In 2021 you should assume all journalists are biased pieces of shite until proven otherwise

Only if you chose to see it so. Hell I'm not even saying they're doing to push an agenda. It could be as simple as running a white man's name, background, etc. the minute they get a name is perfectly safe, whereas if there's a minority involved, doing so could cause a severe backlash from their primary audience.

As a former Boulderite, I share your sadness. And since that was literally the store I shopped in for years, I’m also a little weirded out. This is such a nondescript store and part of Boulder.
