Saw a couple vehicles this morning driving around with them on the rear window. When police place one on a vehicle it's basically telling them they have 3 days to drive around without insurance. What happens if they hit another vehicle? Who's responsible for damages?

Uninsured motorist on the person they hits end, then the insurance company will sue them and attempt to recoup something.

That's what the uninsured motorist portion of your insurance is for. Your insurance company will cover you and go after them.

I'm calling shenanigans. In Louisiana, if a cop runs your plates and the system flags the vehicle as being uninsured, I'm pretty sure the law says that the car is to be towed and impounded unless the driver can provide proof of insurance showing that the system is in error.

Collision covers your veh in this case. UM covers bodily injury. If no collision, umpd will cover your property. Also get the real UM, not economic only.

I am quite sure this was made law in the last decade.

Auto impound if you are found with no insurance.

I believe this is correct.

I though the stickers were noticed to move broken down cars off of the interstate and other roadways, giving the owner the date to remove the car by or it will be towed.

The green stickers are for people who have insurance, but don't have proof with them. If you don't have insurance at all, your shite is getting towed.

This.

If the DMV system shows you have insurance but don't have proof with you....they take your license plate and put a green sticker on on your car. You then have 3 days to bring your proof of insurance and get your license plate back.

The green sticker is to show other police why you don't have a license plate on your car and for them to see if you are still in the 3 day window to get it back.

If you don't have insurance your car is towed and impounded until you get insurance.

No insurance flagged in the system and you will get towed.

Silly person. Insurance company will not go after them unless the damages are outrageous bc lawyer fees cost more than the damages. Trust me, I was in the business for a while.
