My grandpa had a pup with the diesel and that thing couldn’t get out of its own way.
My vote if for early 2000s tacos

For me the two best I’ve owned are a 1995 F150 with a 300 straight 6 and a 2007 F150 Classic with 4.2
The classic was a half year model where they used up all the parts they had left. The 5.4 is the generally more sought after than the 4.2 but it has been bullet proof and still purrs like a kitten.
2007 marked the decline as this was when the next gen began. And they were nothing but problems for a long time. It’s not my everyday driver any long but with a battery tender it still cranks up like it is. Makes an excellent leave on the side of the road vehicle for whitewater paddling with extend cab seating and truck racks.
The 300 straight 6 makes a lot of best lists.

1991 Ford Ranger with the 4.0 was a tough little truck.
Hindsight being 20/20, i should have never got rid of it. Would make a great little farm truck these days
I remember i had a buddy with an S-10 and he thought it was the shite. That POS would get stuck 10 feet off the pavement.
