And while we are at it, I still always called it Parc Chenier even after they renamed it Torres Park.
It will always be parc cheneire Just like Schwegmans will always be Schwegmans no matter what goes in that building.

I know the restaurant back there was named The Marina Wharf.
Didn't it change to Johnny B Goods or something? For whatever reason I remember hearing John Goodman bought it. I was like 10,though, so I may be way off.

I'm going back to probably the late 80's but does anybody remember the $1 cups of draft for sale at the Meraux food store #2 on Paris Rd?

I remember playing in Parc Chenier as it was being developed. Also got kicked out of the park while trying to catch an alligator in the lagoon. Marina Wharf was our go-to restaurant for all of our high school dances. And Touche' back in the marina was the 18+ club back when Grumpy's was around. Our senior year, the cool thing was to try to get in the club with a fake ID.
Btw, Coach Tucker died last summer - was really ill for a long time.

I remember my paw-paw bringing me into Juan's when I was a child, he would give me a hand full of quarters and tell me to go play pool while he drank.

I'm surprised more people haven't talked about hanging out at da Park. Not in the actual park, but the ritual of cruising the parking lot on weekend nights or Sundays. It was basically Chalmette's version of the Lakefront. Met my first girlfriend cruising da Park.

I remember hearing that from my mom about Coach Tucker.
My favorite Park Chenier memory was when Lyn Dean drank the water from the ponds for the news to prove it would be safe to stock it with fish and to let people swim in it.

Oh yeah, bump up the music and ride thru the Parc. That was some good times.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Grew up on Marietta and moved to Dominique in my later teens. HC '85. Moved my stuff out da Parish the day after I graduated from college. Much of my family lived there until Katrina. My brother just moved back after being gone for 30 years. I'm on the Northshore these days, but I lived in Metry for 18 years in between.
I wouldn't trade growing up there for anything. People can say what they want about St. Bernard--we took care of our own. If you grew up in the Parish, you'll never meet a stranger from there. I was at the Gilroy Garlic Festival rocking an LSU shirt a few years ago when I was approached by a dude wearing a Saints shirt. He graduated two years behind me at HC and grew up just a few streets over. Small world.
Many great friends from CHS, AJ, and AHA, and met them all on the streets, in the ball parks, and at places to be in St. B.

I think the club you're talking about was On The Rocks. At leastmit was named that for a while.

So apparently half of Chalmette went to HC...and we still stunk at football in the early 90's.

Don't worry. You still beat CHS. We weren't that good either.
