Monday? Wow ... 27 from our school are there and supposed to fly out Saturday. Glad I sent my son with the credit card
I remember you. You started that dumb thread asking if it would be safe to send your high school kid to DC and everyone said you were a helicopter parent. Worried about terrorists or some such nonsense.
Well if this storm turns out to be an ISIS attack, let me be the first to apologize.

they're already cancelling flights for tomorrow night and saturday. If you haven't rebooked do it now!
Crossing my fingers that the principal on the trip with our students did this already. It's out of my hands and I can't stand that!! lol

I promise, PROMISE you that it wasn't me. Go back and check ... I told her mine went last year and he was going again this year. I had no reservations. And I'm not worried about the weather or him flying ... he's missed 7 days of school due to a convention for school and now this week. Hard to miss MORE school when he's taking duel enrollment college classes.

I went to Wegman's at Fairfax Corner at 10 AM yesterday. It was mobbed as badly as is ever is on a Saturday. It took me 10 minutes to get a parking space.

Oh there was and I was trying to convince her it was ok. Just spent a few minutes looking and couldn't find crap about it. Anyway, my thoughts are you do what you want to live your life (within the law lol) or "they" win.
(really wish I could find that post though; and hers was going for the March for Life on Friday as well)

Yeah that was what triggered my memory. I remembered that being the reason the kid was going there

Well crap ... I'm under a tornado advisory in Louisiana and kid is under a Blizzard Warning in DC. lol And I see that 2 feet of snow is now expected for the DC area. Talk about an experience for these kids.

2 feet of snow is nothing for these airports. They'll have it cleared in a day at the most. It's actually pretty impressive how quickly they can get things running after a storm.

Don't worry, if they get stuck in the capital building by the snow there will be plenty of Senators and Representatives to help keep them warm.

baytiger,
can you break this down for me? calling for 4.7 inches of snow. but also says temps will be above 32 degrees. i know snow doesn't instantly melt at 33 degrees. but the temps should have an impact on accumulation? 38138 zip if that helps.
i'm thinking maybe an inch or so of accumulation.

Well that's an awesome thought. The kids have labeled their hotel "ratchet" per one moms conversation with her son. They have the whole floor to themselves so I'm assuming they'll be able to stay where they are. Hopefully they'll let them out to experience the snow coming down and a snowball fight or two!

At lunch, the dude on Channel 5 said (I THINK) 6-8 inches with locally higher amounts? That can't be right. This is Memphis. We don't get that kind of snow. Especially, as you pointed out, with temps right at freezing.
Unless I'm reading your chart wrong, that looks like 5.7 inches to me. 1.1 plus 3.0 plus 1.7. Or am I reading wrong?
Wonder what the new flyover at 40-240 will be like?
