What I'm thinking is when the Costco employee scans my card and then scans all of my items. When I get to the front, they scan my card again and I'm ready to pay
Scan and Go at Sam’s works like this. You open your Sam’s app on your phone, press the scan button on the app, scan the barcode of the product you’re buying and select number of products and add it to your “cart” in the app. When you’re done, press checkout, and it charges the credit card you have stored on the app. Walk out the store.

Costco has much higher standards. Costco has 0.1% shrinkage versus Sam’s 1%. They would be slow to adopt a technology that costs them more money.

I got a cheap sams membership and bought 4 members mark items that I normally buy kirkland.
The pecans were stale.
The olives were mushy
The bacon bits were full of rubbery gristle.
The aged cheddar tasted like non-aged cheddar.
Basically re-branded Great Value. Sams is a joke as far as buying store-label stuff. If just getting name brand, fine, whoever is cheaper.
