Dr. Towns was more qualified not because of her phd. She was a teacher, a principal, deputy super intendent. She also was heavily involved in all decisions at the district in tenn. Ms. Brown was never a teacher, Was a principal of a charter school. Charter schools has no required qualifications For being principal or a teacher, and then she held a position solely responsible for raising money for a charter school. She has never even been involved in the decision making process whi”e Dr. Towns has. So who cares about the phd the only thing that matters is their experience which Dr. Towns had plenty more of

Made me want to stand up & cheer!!! God bless you Ms.Collins, you are a true American & what we should all strive to be as citizens. The irony is waisted on the left, I’ve made it a point to forward this to everyone I know as it offers hope. I have no clue as to this woman’s political leanings, nor is it any of my business, but she has integrity and that can’t be bullied nor bought, but is a hard lesson learned. She’s a keeper!

BR needs more "Dawn Collins" type leaders and less Broome and Gravy types.

Wow! I personally know Dawn Collins and have worked with her. She definitely has the students’ best interests in mind which drove her decision. In no way was she bought out and she certainly did not sell out. Kudos Dawn! And hats off to Mark Bellue too, who also appeared to vote with his conscience, albeit his opinion was different than Dawn’s. I am sure “some” of the others voted for their conscience as well.
