re: Graph that shows outbreak was highest in places that said they weren’t wearing masks

Absolutely useless data.
As stated above. N.O and others had huge outbreaks before which reduces population vulnerable to infection.
Just useless to present this as actual "science".

Full court press is on to grasp at any correlative straws (evidence) that masks did anything.

Jeff Asher has literally made a career in the past 5 months by being a mask advocate. According to other sources today like the much more respected Youyang Gu model, this actually could be a sign of limited herd immunity development. Which would be so incredibly awesome.

Yes, it is “herd immunity” that uses the benefits of social distancing and masks. Read what Gu says. That is a good thing. I don’t know why people want to shite on it. It will allow us to do more things.

Conveniently starts after BR and Nola spikes.
That probably wouldn't effect the conclusion being promoted. Before the spikes in N.O. and B.R., no one was wearing masks.

if you read the guy's twitter, he agrees that the mask mandate didn't do anything, as the spike had already happened

like he says, its more than likely a combination of variables
people that wear masks more than likely take all the behaviors more seriously, like social distancing and less social interactions

I know 2 people that live alone, have worn masks religiously whenever they leave their homes, and have tested positive. Both had mild symptoms. Based on this data, masks are 100% ineffective.
My anecdotal evidence and conclusion drawn above have equally as many fake parts as your graph. Assuming the source didn’t lie about the numbers used to create the graph, of course.

In a vacuum it’s interesting though.
It really isn’t, though.
It’s parishes that had the early outbreak vs those without.
Also, Latoya had a mask mandate before the statewide one, and their time frame only includes 13 days of the statewide mandate.
It’s cherry-picking data and taking it out of a context that matters. Herd immunity happened in NOLA.

Here's the Twitter thread if anyone wants to read the analysis.

She is tracking cases.
Cases have more of a correlation to testing. In fact it's almost one to one.
Despite the ramp up in testing the positivity rate only slightly increased and will likely remain the same for the short term and decrease for the long term. In fact the positivity rate is already decreasing.
The good news it we have entered a downward trend for cases and deaths. We will have herd immunity before a vaccine is available.

Good for them that their actions probably limited their viral load and gave them less severe infection.

He is saying masks and social distancing helped.
It happened without the Governor making a formal mandate.

This is an ignorant statement.
Viral loads do not come from the environment. They come from replicating viruses in your cells.

Wrong. The amount of virus you take in most definitely makes a difference.
