I'm in the Baton Rouge area and looking for a granite installer who sells and installs granite countertops on a per foot basis as opposed to a full slab. Only looking for 8 ft of countertop with a sink. The only place I have found so far is Assured Flooring.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just had Diniz Designs off Industriplex do mine. Not the cheapest but easy to work with.

You really need to find a remnant. You have to look at it this way. If a fabricator has a full slab that cost him $1000 would you expect for him to cut you an eight foot counter for less than what he paid for the slab? He will lose money until he can sell vanities out of the remainder of the slab. No one really sells "by the foot." They figure cost of material, cost of labor, rather they have a remnant leftover and whatever margin they want to make. No one takes your square footage and just multiplies by a square foot price. It is basically a made up number.

Guess concrete is not "sold by the yard" either. Or fabric "sold by the foot". Please. How the hell do people sell shite? Oh just make up numbers and that's the price.

Did a great job several years ago for us, too. Price was actually lower than a lot of places we checked.

Your analogy is not even in the ballpark. Try again.

I used Assured Flooring and Counters on Seigen when building last year. They stock certain granite and marble and sell it by the foot. I was pleased with whole process.

I don't know how he sells it, but I used Jack's Kitchen & Bath on Gov't Street and he did a really good job at my condo.

They came out and measured, gave me a quote and installed.

Not really, they take their average deal for certain stone and multiple that by a sq ft price. When you do it enough, you get a good average. Its pretty basic math and business.

The larger businesses will definitely do smaller cuts, but even more so they have a large remnant yard. You just have to find the larger businesses. They do enough business they don't mind the remnants as much and often times have remnants in the sizes people need for vanities.

I have seen places advertise $25 a square foot installed. Say you have a condo with a small galley kitchen that is only 24 square feet. Do you honestly think anyone is going to do that job for 600 bucks?
