I thought amazon canceled the show because it was too expensive?

I believe that was posted this past April 1st

Amazon is valued above $700 billion, pretty sure they can afford it.

This is the last season.

They had a 3 year contract.

All 3 of those baws are fricking hilarious.

Hands down my favorite show. Arguably better than the original top gear.

True

Negative.

They signed a 3 season/36 episode contract. There is currently no reason to believe it will not renew. Even at a $160 million dollar budget, it has been producing profit.

Clarkson even called there not being a 4th season "horse shite"

Clarkson is going to be hosting a reboot of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, which may impact timing of season 4.

Grand Tour: Amazon doesn’t release ratings but The Grand Tour has apparently broken the streaming service’s records and driven enough new subscriptions to keep bosses happy.

I mentioned this in the Movie Board thread, but according to the way that Amazon values their shows, the Grand Tour makes about $2 for every $1 spent on production. I doubt it will be canceled anytime soon as long as those number keep up.

Yup. There are few shows that are internationally loved, but this is one of them.

They will keep going until Hammond kills himself in a crash.

Upgraded to amazon prime just for this show. Intro to first episode is one of the best moments in television - if you know the history.

Season 2 was a great improvement from season 1 - can’t wait for season 3.

Either that or the other two kill him by stranding him somewhere dangerous, like the time they were testing GPS rescue gear and left him on top of a mountain in winter with a film crew for a week while they took their time getting to him or the time they made him take the sled dogs to the North Pole while they rode in a Toyota Tundra.

I'm on the Beach Buggy episodes from Season 1 where they're in the Namib desert right now and love it. Good to know it only gets better. Also, 4k video is a staggering improvement for this type of show. Being able to see the water condensing out of the exhaust in slow motion as the exhaust hits cool air is unreal.

Hammond almost died in 2006 when he tried to drive a dragster. Was in a coma

This was, while it was on the BBC, the most widely watched show in the world. Ever. It has huge appeal. No way Amazon is going to let that go. They are making money hand over fist on it even though production costs are high.

It's worth it.

Most watched factually based show. Sporting events usually take the cake for "most watched."
