Does rubbing tobacco on it actually work? My dad used to always say that.

I have a narrow driveway and walking out to my truck to leave one day last summer I apparently pissed off some yellow jackets and a couple of them hit me on my right ear before I could make my get away.

In about 2 minutes time I looked like a UFC fighter with a single cauliflower ear.

I went to my shop and got me a can of wasp spray and that took care of the problem---------------as far as the wasps went. The ear took a few more hours.

Didn’t matter what it was, wasp sting, compound fracture, concussion. My dad would always say “rub a ‘lil dirt on it, you’ll be fine”…

I think I'm allergic to them. I just go and get a shot at the e-med place. Sting spot just swells up and didn't change for a couple days the first time. F them yellow jackets, wasp, hornets, bees, anything that flies and stings.

If it was actually a YJ, those little aggressive fricks hurt. Regular bees and wasps not so much except for those little ginny wasp. frick them too

Last summer I came across a nest while taking care of my mother in laws yard. Got hit by 9 of them sum-bitches. Trust me, I noticed and that sh_t hurt for 8 hours. Filled a coke bottle with gas and lit them on fire so vengeance was mine.

I’ve heard that, but in my experience a wasp sting is much worse than a YJ.

ETA: what kind of idiot downvotes this?

As a 10 yr old I was playing football w/some kids from down the street. The ball rolled into some bushes and a guy went in to get it. He disturbed a YJ nest and they all came out.

I got stung 6-7 times and yes, it hurt. But the other guy was stung 70+ times and was rushed to the emergency room.

I told him to rub some dirt on it, but he wouldn't listen

My family's solution was to apply a wet paste of water and baking soda.
It works for me, even on the millipede sting I got a month ago.

When I was in Europe I had a reaction to their little bees that swelled my hand such that I couldn't sign travelers checks. Little old women looked at my hand, I said in German I had been bitten by two or three small bees, and every one of them told me to carry an onion with me and when stung, cut the onion and put it one the sting.. The one tIme I did that over here, it did work, despite the stink of carrying a drippy onion on my hand.

My experience with YJs have always been bad. It’s like they don’t just sting, they latch on. A lot of people confuse YJs with regular bees. They are very different

I most definitely works. The best thing I have found that provides the quickest relief is diesel, believe it or not.
