1000 years of ancestors would probably be about 40 generations.
That would be about 1 trillion 38th great grand parents.

There have never been close to that total number of humans in all of history.
So, how does that work??

A lot of people in the past married first or second cousins. Even today, your wife is most likely your 7th or 8th cousin or something like that.

It's literally impossible to marry someone who isn't related at some point in the past.

i believe one just doesn't have the records available to trace their ancestry very far. they was way too much moving and actual name changing going on. i also believe these ancestry web sits are rip offs. i'm white with an english surname. so i'm related to english people with that surname a number of generations ago. i can take my pick by leaving out all of the criminals and just claim the successful ones.

How the hell did someone going on the Titanic (a pleasure cruise basically) give up their life so someone else can live?

To be fair in Alabama, most family trees are circles.

I feel like this justifies me having sex with my cousin when we were 15. Cool. He has a beautiful family now

I mean if you want to bring math into the discussion then technically we are all here today because we were the one sperm out of 300 million sperm that won the race to the egg. We all beat 300 million:1 odds to exist. And that doesn't even factor in things like what if Mom had a "headache" that night.

If you assume a generation is 30 years and go back 28 generations to the year 1,183 AD, you would be related to about 72% of the World's population at that time.

We are all cousins if you go back to 1,150 AD.

Relatives from Arkansas complicates the math a little.

By giving up a seat on a lifeboat that allowed someone’s ancestor to survive?
