Been there for work, boring town. I would never live there unless it was for major money. Have fun running from Tornadoes.

Were I you, I would not turn down a good job offer based on the comments of those who responded to your post. Nearly all of them contain suppositions, just like a lot of people in other parts of our country think that every kid in Louisiana rides a boat to school everyday, while dodging alligators.

I have visited Wichita. I thought it was a pretty nice place.

I've been living in McPherson, KS about 50 miles north of Wichita for the past year working on a project. Been to Wichita frequently while I've been up here.

It's basically a slightly bigger version of Baton Rouge or Mobile, Al with less crime. There is about the same amount of stuff to do in Wichita as there is in both those places. If you're not used to real winters and being far away from the coast, I wouldn't advise moving here. You would probably be okay for about a year then hating it.

It's not the worst place in the world to live, but I'm looking forward to November when this project ends and I can head back south. It was 39 degrees this morning with 40 mph sustained winds. Going to be even colder tomorrow. It snowed over a foot 3 times last winter and it stays around for awhile unlike back home where it melts off by the afternoon.

I live in Wichita. It's not as bad as what everyone is saying. Work here revolves around the aerospace industry. 3+ hours to KC and about 2 hours to OKC. There aren't as many tornadoes as what people that have seen Twister or the Wizard of Oz might think. I have lived here for the better part of 15 years and I have never seen one live. Obviously, winter is colder here and the wind blows all the time. If you are an outdoors person, deer are bigger here and fishing is way tougher. The state is basketball crazy unless the royals are in the playoffs once every 30 years or so. Plenty of restaurants. Obviously, seafood is on ice for a couple of days before we can eat it here. Long drives are mostly boring but aren't they everywhere...

Apparently you missed where the OT consensus was that all cities pale in comparison to Kenner now, baw.

Pros:
It's 3 hours from Lawrence. You can go watch basketball at the greatest venue in NCAA basketball. Phog Allen Fieldhouse

Cons:
It's too close to those Missouri cousin-frickers
