Mont Belvieu ftw
The way Mont Belvieu is growing, I wouldn't think twice of moving there if my job was at Exxon Baytown. They pretty much have everything. New HEB and plenty of food options unlike 20 years ago when it only had a few gas stations on I-10 and 146. In fact, I probably would also consider Anahuac as that is where progress is heading.

Lost my transmission in Baytown once. Fun times. Still able to make it to Houston to see the Astros (Clemens & the killer B’s) during a weeklong homestand.

That smell in the air is not just the smell of Exxon and Pasadena wafting across the ship channel, it is also the scent of meth cooking from abandoned dwellings. And every month is meth cooking season

Houston really has no redeeming qualities. It's hot, flat, concrete, and way too much culture.
You also just described the rest of Texas as well. Except add brown ugly brush instead of actual trees.
You’re biased because it’s where you’re from so you can’t give a fair answer to anyone asking. There’s people that grew up in whatever utopia region you’re referring to who absolutely hate it.
