My paternal grandfather’s unit was at Fort Sill training and couldn’t ship out because they lost so many men due to influenza. (Not my gran pere, yeah for me!) By the time the unit got replenished and retrained, the Armistice had been signed.

Fun Fact- The 1918 Flu epidemic was referred to as “The Spanish Flu”. This was because the first major reports of how bad it was came from Spain. It really first got bad in the U.S. but due to heavy WWI-era news censorship, this was not publicly made known.
