Rim down if you have roaches.

Down bro, there may be some water left in them and down it will run out.

This is a no brainer

Rim down at my house. Why? No great reason, but if I don't use a cup for a while, rim down means no dust or anything inside of the cup.

Rim up. Allows excess moisture to evaporate and prevents bacteria growth that can take place when rim is down.

ETA: Excess does'nt mean full of water.

Drying the cup properly will do this too, but yeah, if you're tossing wet cups in the cabinet, rim up is better.

But then the rim would be in contact with the wood If you had roaches they would be crawling over that wood

Yes, it is. So you wipe the rim and move on.

It's also more sturdy for most glasses/cups.

ETA - I'm not really trying to defend my cup stacking tendencies. , I've got cups stacked both ways in the cabinet, but I default to rim down.

The kind who is worried about what happens to the excess moisture.

I actually went check my cabinet - glass cups are rim up and a single layer. Plastic cups are rim down and stacked.

Insulated cups, thermoses, and lids are discombobulated to the point one will fall on you when you open the door.

I only use my Waterford once and then throw it away.

How it goes in the trash, that’s my staff’s concern.

I drink only from Solo cups to avoid this dilemma.
