I never fully understood a glass shower.

I know it looks nice from the outside, but it's not comfortable inside them. I like to feel like I have my own personal space when I shower.

Not on display for the world to see.

Got a glass shower enclosure. BIG PITA to keep clean. Don't know of any tricks to really keep it clean( water spots on glass). Really thinking about redoing that bathroom all together and taking out the shower and rebuild it to a walk in shower.

Agree with this. Had one at my last place. Had to get in there with a srub pad and windex on that thing.

We have an LED glass shower enclosure. Click a button and from the inside it looks like you're standing in an open field, beach, or just opaque enclosure. From the outside it's opaque.

That's pretty damn cool.

I know what I'm doing to my shower now...

You need to splurge the extra couple hundred for a shower guard coating. It got a lifetime warranty and you don’t have to worry about the water spots. I mean you still have to clean it but it’s not nearly as difficult.

As far as privacy goes, while most of our customers go with clear glass, there are plenty of opaque options which you can’t see through. Clear in general looks great, is cheaper, and you can see any tile work you have behind it, which is usually something people want.

Will have to see how it holds up, but we added "Showerguard" to the glass. Showerguard

I don't really have that, but I've always wanted it.

Do you guys have that glass that is clear but when you hit the switch it turns opaque? Always seemed neat.

ETA: although this may just be done with polarized glass and lighting

Look up switchlite glass. Really neat product. Very expensive. I quoted a commercial door for a college down the street from us the other day and it drove the price up about $3000. I’m not sure it can be used in a shower application just because of the wiring.

I’ve priced jobs with it multiple times but haven’t had a bite on it yet. My cost on it ranges from $100-200 a square ft.

Get a squeegee and wipe it off after your shower

With a closed in shower you can steam up the inside and be warm in cooler weather, with the walk in you are warm in the water stream but any part of your body hanging out of the water is hitting cold air, fixing to tear out my walk-in and put a glass stall because of that.
