Susan Slusser is a senior baseball reporter from the San Francisco Chronicle. She is the former president of the Baseball Writers' Associaiton of America. She went on a podcast this week and gave her thoughts about the 3 players that wore Bible verses.

quote:

Host:

“Susan, you’ve been doing this for a while. You’ve covered teams beyond the Giants, and you have a good sense for baseball and the players because you talk to them routinely.

We were getting into the details of the Giants’ decisions, Pride Night, the communication and all of that. But if we back away a little bit, has the Giants organization done real damage in the eyes of players?

Are they going to have a hard time attracting players because other players are looking at these guys being called bigots and attacked in the media for either not wearing the hat or writing biblical verses?

Do you think, long term, the Giants are going to have a hard time attracting free agents because of what happened this year?”

Susan Slusser:

“I mean, bigoted free agents, maybe, I guess.

Look, Sam Hentges was the guy whose comments after that game—he chose to wear the regular Giants hat and not write a Bible verse, which is probably the right way to go about it, I think.

Afterwards, he kind of held forth about morals and things like that, and some of those comments were pretty distasteful to the LGBTQ community.

He was a free agent who chose to sign in San Francisco. It was probably not uppermost in his mind, thinking, ‘The Giants wear a Pride hat every year,’ but it is part and parcel of signing here.

Certainly, it’s not a secret that San Francisco has a huge gay community and many gay fans.

To me, this is a little bit on the players. If you don’t want to be a part of that, then A, maybe don’t openly insult your paying customers after a game, and B, don’t sign here.

Maybe that will happen. I don’t know. But that honestly seems kind of crazy to me. You know where you’re coming. This is San Francisco. It’s not a secret.”

Her comments begin around the 1:10 mark.

Well, their community of degenerates and perverts are pretty distasteful to the rest of America who still has decency and moral values.

Typical dumb liberal living in a bubble white woman.

Gotta love the hypocrisy from the Christophobes.

Many push this the way they do because they are incapable of seeing how it goes both ways. That’s the level of indoctrination there has been for so long by the evil ones that do see the hypocrisy, and don’t care.

The below is another example of their lack of looking at the 3 fingers pointing back at them

I can’t wait for players to start leaving and signing with teams in Texas because they want to play for a team that aligns with their values.

And the melt when they can’t get the best players to come there.

I do think it’s hilarious that MLB pushes gay pride like they do when basically every MLB player really hates gay people

Jason Whitlock has an interesting take on why SF became the homo haven it has. Going back to all the men that went there during the gold rush. Leaving their women/families behind, and going somewhere where it was 90% men. Kind of like the prison effect.

Unfortunately all sports do it.

Though I haven’t watched a bunch of the WC, I’ve been surprised to not see a bunch of Leftie messaging during it so far. At least not enough to notice for the casual watcher. Ie “stop hate” messaging in the end zones like the nfl.

We’ll other than this deal but that’s on Seattle.

Someone posted a video of his last night and it held my interest all the way through, I'll go see if I can find his take on SF- I bet it's good! Thanks for the suggestion.

I’ve said this before, but I feel bad for the gay people who just live their lives without all the demands for attention.

Like other social justice movements that push you in a corner and shout you down, the alphabet people movement is starting to get some pushback. People just trying to live their lives are sick and tired of it.

Now I have a visual of Yosemite Sam sidling up to another cartoon guy in a bar and saying, "Howdy partner."

Thanks!

Yeah he looks at things differently for sure. It’s a few years old now, but he explains his points well.
