No, thats how big a few of them were. They were some fast and flying around the flowers, I thought they were hummingbirds. Hummingbirds are not very big.

I found out because the first time I saw one I was waiting for that giant bastard to start breathing fire. I went on a trip to Mordor on Google until I found the root of such evil.

Not quite the same size and these hummingbirds look smaller than most.

Some hummingbirds are easily half that size.

The hummingbird size comparison is 100% accurate. I was walking my dog the other day and saw one of those bastards buzzing around some shrubs and thought holy shite and it's as if it knew I was watching with high concern bc it flew directly at me. I squatted down while flailing my arms in shear terror like I was having a seizure. This woman across the street saw me react and busted out laughing, I told her "laugh it up you didn't see the size of that hornet" she apologized then kept laughing. I'm a huge poon when it comes to stinging flying insects so those are pretty much my worst nightmare.

I had never heard of those until last year. My first contact was terrifying. Buddy kept assuring me that won't sting but no way was I gonna chance it

Years ago, I got attacked by a swarm of these when I upset a pile of composting grass that was in my back yard. These MF sting like nothing on earth. I cant describe the pain they brought.

I waited till night time and poured a half gallon of gas down the hole they came out of.

European hornets. Look just like Japanese giant hornets. Had them 3 years in a row. I finally got brave enough and could cut the grass right against the tree they were in.

I had a yard full of those things once. Treat your grass with some sort of pesticide granule and they wont come back.
