Getting Car Insurance Quotes

I checked the mail today and received a letter from my car insurance provider saying they were going to drop our car insurance policy. I’ve been with this company since 2005 and unfortunately I don’t blame them for firing us. My family has unfortunately had a run of bad luck of backing into a car, hitting a deer and getting broad sided in a grocery store parking lot along with some other speeding violations. So I get it my family has turned into a liability as of late.
My question is this. Do any of you have recommendations on which company I need to use to check car insurance rates? Last time I got car insurance I just called up an agent that I grew up with. Since technology has advanced I would like to check all the rates if possible without my name and personal information given out to every desperate insurance salesman looking for a sales lead. Any help is appreciated because so much of this stuff looks like a scam. For all I know I could be giving out all my personal information to some hacker in Russia, China or North Korea.

I am not following at all...how are these new companies going to get your driving record and credit rating without your name ?

I guess you could try DIY online quotes for companies that have that, but be warned that the quote will only be as accurate as the info you provide and you can really screw yourself over if you don’t know what coverages you need.

I get all that nor do I mind sharing it. However, is there a company I can just give my information to and get a rate from all these insurance companies all at once without having to go to each individual insurance companies websites?

No. You can go through an independent agent who should be able to get quotes from a few different carriers like Progressive, Safeco, MetLife, National General, etc
But some carriers only have captive agents (represent only that company) like State Farm, AAA, Allstate, Farm Bureau, etc. So you’d have to call an agent for each of those companies separately if you wanted a quote.

If only there were well known, well established auto insurance companies you could call.

Thank you. I keep hearing Geico is reasonable over here in the Mobile area but still the same I’d like to see what my options are on these kind of matters. Appears my two teenage kids are paying me back for all the hell I put my parents through when I was their age.

Geico will not insure you. I’m an insurance agent and the only options I see are Progressive or “The General”. Will be very expensive.

I’m an insurance agent as well.
Have an agency in Gulf Shores.
You’re wrong.
Here is a link for an app I’ve built, which allows you to shop your own insurance. But, you do have to enter your own info. Taken me months for this to finally work. Game changer maybe...

Banging up cars is indeed expensive. Deductibles alone aren’t much fun either.
