Honestly I think the vast majority of modern trucks (with the possible exception of Toyota but their advantage seems to be lessening) are all equally shitty
It sucks bc they cost a fortune and there's really no alternative so I don't have a good suggestion
Whenever my 16 150 kicks the bucket assuming similar trucks are still $80k+ I'll probably just have to bit the bullet on a cheaper version such as the Maverick or ranger (they will making the ranger?) or the equivalent from another brand
I still will have my old school diesel so that will cover my towing and hauling needs

Chevy transmission is trash due to cheap metal and welded anchors which cause the torque converter to become unbalanced. The excess heat and balancing issues cause the components to start shredding metal through the transmission.
I’ve got a 2017 Z71. Torque converter started having issues. It was still under warranty so I had the transmission cleaned and rebuilt. No issues since then. From what I understand, it’s that 2015-2021 8 speed models that had the issue and they have fixed it going forward. I like my Chevy.

I hope my 2017 F150 is just getting broken in. I have the little 2.7 with the old 6 speed. It's been a good truck so far.

transmission issues with Chevy trucks
Some folks (including me) have had transmission shudder issues around 90,000 miles on the 8 speed.
I figured a new transmission was next but an honest transmission guy said he could fix the issue simply by changing the fluid and filter.
Correct. $650 and an hour later it was as smooth as it was new.

Actually it's the 10 speed Fords that are having issues. The 8 speed Chevrolets too.
I talked to a guy at my local transmission shop the other day and he said he has worked on a lot of Ford 10 speeds but not one GM 10 speed. Said Ford and Chevy spec them out different but basically the same trans. Said GM problems are with the 6 and 8 speeds. He said there is something he changes in the 6 speed that makes it bulletproof but the 8 speed is trash.

Who did the transmission work. In Baton Rouge?

Had this issue on my 2017. Had the fluid and filter changed and that seemed to fix it for the most part. It would still do it occasionally though. So I traded mine in for a 2019 10 speed 6.2 before my warranty on my 2017 went out. Night and day.

I got a 1500 with the turbomax. 9200 lb towing capacity and I don't see the issues with lifters like the 5.3
I got the poverty edition though. Not even an LT

I was up in Ruston when it had the trouble so I got recommendations for a local dude north of town.
Twin City Transmission.

I had a 2016 F150. At these prices and this build quality, I would keep it.

Chevy trucks eat cams and lifters.

I have to shut mine off every time I start the vehicle. I want to shut mine off permanently. Have you figured out a way for that?

No idea if true, but I keep hearing people claiming new truck prices will fall soon. Probably just myth.

I've had GMCs since 2008, my next truck will be an F150 XLT with the black appearance package plus and the 5.0 or 3.5 in either Avalanche or Carbonized Grey Mettalic.

Congrats, upshot is you won't be forced to buy an electric truck anymore.

Find a low mileage 2022 V8 Tundra and you'll get 300k and little service cost over the life of it.

Just picked up '24 F150 XLT 2.7 in Avalanche for $44k. Was trying to decide between those 2 colors as well. Friend that owns a mechanic shop said the 5.0 and 2.7 are more reliable than the 3.5

Was in the similar situation this past May. Had 2020 fully loaded lariat f-150. Was the 2 tone color 5.0 V8. Awesome truck gave me no problems. Was fully paid off. Wanted something new don’t know why. Went with a 24 tundra 1794. It’s a plastic box on wheels. All junk. I made a huge mistake and kicking myself for it’s

I just bought a new F150 STX V8 4WD. Thats base model for you ballers at home. I got it for $47K. I love it so far. It ain't got to fancy bells and whistles but I also will not pay $60K for a truck.
The tragedy here is it cost $47,000 for a base model.
