The Georgia state Board of Education is expected to push for a statewide school start date of September 8 after a meeting scheduled for Thursday. JFC, pick a date and stick with it, for crying out loud. We need some certainty here.
The only good thing here is they can't mandate it; that decision is up to each individual district.

I’d guess 99% of the districts follow whatever the BOE says

Does anyone think schools in the south should have started after Labor Day all along and northern schools should have been the early August starts?
Seems like it would take advantage of better weather in each region.
Though the north just sucks through February.

School in the South should only start the Tuesday after Labour day and end the Friday week before Memorial Day.
Make the dateS work.

I gotta feeling these start dates will be re-evaluated every single week, if not day by day.

My only hope is this is being done in an effort to make metro school districts re evaluate their terrible decision for all virtual learning

There would be very short holiday breaks then.
I grew up in south GA and we started the last Monday in August and didn't finish until the first Friday in June. We were off only three days for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks for Christmas, a week for spring break, and no fall break at all.

No problem with this as long as they buck up and actually start.

I glanced at this thread and thought it said Georgia BOI pussy. Got excited and clicked then remembered I wasn't on 4chan.

I’m not sure if other places are doing this but Sumner County (outside of Nashville) is having kids go 2 days a week. Last names A-L go on Monday and Thursday, M-Z go Tuesday and Thursday. All kids off Wednesday.

Well, I'll be damned.
Not only did the state BOE not vote on the resolution to delay school until September 8, they didn't even bring it up for discussion.
I am truly surprised they didn't cave to APS and other large districts.
