As a very white person in Atlanta, I can assure these folks that black people do, in fact, jog

However, I will say that I suspect black people jog for recreation much more in Atlanta than in Brunswick or Baton Rouge

Sure it’s relevant to their state of mind. Did they think he was jogging in the wrong neighborhood or running from an attempt at a crime? If it’s the former, it’s first degree. If it’s the latter, it would presumably be something else.

State of mind doesn't matter when an unlawful killing occurs during the commission of felony aggravated assault. It's default felony murder.

Oh so you’re sure they committed felony assault? Doesn’t seem so clear to me.

Also just because the state doesn’t have to prove state of mind doesn’t mean state of mind is irrelevant. You know this.

Pretty clear based on the statutes and relevant case law.

You can't illegally block someone's right of way (They, by their own admission, didn't meet GA's citizen's arrest standards) with a firearm (aggravated) and yell and a person to stop.

That's assault brother.

This rationale is and sadly it’s the rationale of a lot of the board

People who cannot think critically are the ones to scream "thug" or "racist." Your line is no different than what you're accusing others.

It's easier to throw out canned insults than trying to understand issues.

Uh no. I can tell when somebody is jogging. Typically they are wearing jogging clothes.

If you’ve done the research, I’ll take your word for it. I know you’re a smart poster.

It'd be nice if we could discuss how our minds instantly categorize people differently and how that's the product of bias and some prejudice, but it's also based on learned experience rather than some internalized hatred

As in

Black guy running through my neighborhood with his lab in Lululemon - Hello neighbor

Black guy jogging through predominately white neighborhood in jeans - Suspicious

But our society isn't mature enough for these conversations

Don't know if this was posted already, but there is video of Arbery in the unfinished home. Literally nothing to steal in there. Homeowner say property has never been stolen from the house.

I think he said that some fishing equipment was stolen weeks or months earlier, but it was never reported so we don't know for a fact if that is the case.

We know it's not on film that said fishing equipment was stolen because the owner has gone on record saying that his videos did not show anything aside from trespassing. Perhaps the owner is lying and does have video of theft, but we don't know that.

“I’ve never had a police report or anything stolen from my property, or any kind of robbery,” Larry English told The Washington Post in a Sunday report.

I’m not saying that he absolutely was but you can look at these two baws and Think it entirely plausible that they wouldn’t have started chasing some white dude down the road with guns drawn.

So now the white guys can be judged on their looks but the black guy can’t. Jesus Christ

Hmmm. Then either he has changed his story, or there's some other baw with missing (but unreported) fishing equipment in the area.

If that is the case, then this is yet another nail in the citizen's arrest coffin.
