Flux capacitor is down. Not a big deal. Just tap it with a hammer. If that doesn't work replace it.

It could also be a lack of replacing the brushes inside the generator part. I did this before and it ate up the windings.
Good luck.

My buddy had a wheelhouse 5500 that stopped putting out power while running.
After some trouble shooting and taking apart the electrical panel it turns out one of the spade terminals had come loose on the output side.
Check the simple stuff first. And if you are handy with a multimeter that will help.

+1 for flashing the field. Plug in the variable speed drill with the generator running and give the chuck a few spins by hand with the trigger pulled.

It’s just a basic 5500. Checked the breakers and they seemed fine. What else could cause this?
get a test meter and see if you have power going to the breakers, if you do its fixible, if not its a coin flip if its cheaper to buy a new one or get that one fixed.
just because the engine runs doesnt mean its making electricity. the generator isnt the whole thing, its just the thing the engine turns to make power. there are a million reasons why it isnt making power and most arent fixible but some are

You shut it off with the generator under load and you fry the transformer. Transformers run about $50 and the are easy to replace.

I would start by replacing all of the component parts in the generator and see if that works.
