There is no statewide database that is tracking tobacco purchases. If you are buying too much at Circle K, go to RaceTrac.

I will gladly "show" my ID even if they can't tell by looking at me that I'm 18 + 50 years old. The scanning my DL ain't happening, I'll find another place to by my occasional 6 pack. And no, I don't blame the store worker, they're just doing what the owner has told them to do and it's all on the camera above the register.

When you cut up with the black lady behind the counter and she becomes your buddy, you don’t have to worry about it anymore. Be more personable.

Scanning IDs for alcohol/tobacoo/lottery sales makes sense.
Also does for voting in America.

he said, there is a limit how you can purchase.
Not here in Texas. The other day I bought a pack of Zyns and it rang up for $1. I bought 10 more cans.

I worked for a gas station many years ago and it wasn’t the case back then.
I could see this being a thing if you are buying a ridiculous amount and they think you are selling it some shite. Or you are a member of the mafia.
I’m sure you’d have to buy a frick ton to set it off. Like 100 cartons a month.

No, that's not true. Some retailers have a system that forces clerks to scan the ID to make sure it's valid and that you're old enough to purchase. It has nothing to do with the amount of whatever you're buying. It tracks nothing.

I think the government requires older people to show ID as some form of shaming them for using tobacco. If those in power could ban tobacco, they would because they know better than you how to live your life. These same idiot politicians who make nanny laws like this also support legalization of weed. Makes no sense
