Often thought about taking up these cities on their offer and buy wide swaths of land inside the city limit for $1 a lot. Bring in some demo equipment and level the buildings. Build a big fence around my 40 acre parcel inside the city limits and wait for a decent time to build my palatial estate.
Of course I'd be packing heat the entire time and would need to build guard towers around my compound but I think it would be kind of cool to be the richest guy in town. it would be like Mr. Burns estate on the Simpsons.
