My sensor is flashing and door won’t close. I’ve tried aligning it for the last hour or so with no luck. Anybody got any other tricks or ideas to try?

By the way, there's two sensors. Not just the one.

Blinking fast? If so, hold it down until door is all the way down

Mine did that, so I pulled the emergency lever and closed it to get me through the night and then opened it by hand again the next morning so I could go to work. That has been two years ago and I am still opening and closing the fricking thing by hand.

It has nothing to do with sensors if blinking fast at the button. Some sort of reset. Ours does it often. Usually resets after holding button down until door is closed.

Either the sensors are out of line, the wiring to the sensors is out, or the sensors themselves are shot. They are more intricate than they appear, and they work in tandem, there is a transmitter and a receiver.

I ended up having to order a new set and run new wiring with mine

Does it start to close, then stop itself after a second? Or is it totally unresponsive?

Post vids/pics and there is a 100% chance the OT can fix this for you.

This is how you can still close the garage even if the sensors are out. You cannot use the remote, you must use the direct wired switch, usually near your door going inside the house.
I'm not sure about this "resetting" anything, though.

It does something with ours for some reason. Every once in a while, someone hits the lock on accident, but that's a separate issue. The majority of the time it is the left side garage door getting stuck in this "error" mode. I read up a long time ago and I don't remember if it was holding the button for x amount of seconds or what, but basically holding it down enough to close the door is long enough for it to reset and it works again.

When ours does it, you can click the remote and the hard wired button blinks fast for like 10 seconds. The door starts to close like a foot and opens back up. The holding it method fixes it.

Mine was doing this recently and it was the main board in the motor. Total repair bill I believe was around 200.00 well worth it. Way cheaper than replacing the motor.
