Galveston Mardi Gras

Just saw a news segment on their MG. In 15 seconds, I saw a better product than anything that shathole Mobile ever put on in a century

Galveston is great. I'll meet you at the Poop Deck.

I think Galveston realizes they need to seriously up their tourism game, and stop being just for Texans. So they are latching on to their old creole history and playing it up. Smart. They have to attract people from all over.

Tillman Fertitta has given Galveston a much needed enema. It is a great place to visit.

I went in 2016. You pay to get into a block party basically. They metal detect everyone and you can’t walk around with drinks. The parades are cheesy but the bars are fun and there’s a nice mix of single people and families.

Is it not possible to get drunk and throw beads in places outside of New Orleans? They get a solid showing over there each year and it can be a fun time.

Do you think it’s worth going to? I’m going to visit some family in Houston and we were thinking about going to the parade

Quoting Jaws, "Its only and island if you look at it from the water."
That's the key to GAlveston. DON'T look at the water. The rest of the city is great. Good food spots, nice little MArdi Gras. I love to stay at the Treemont Hotel. If you dont like the Treemont, you are the problem.

There are actually decent beaches and water way down on the west end.
Also, the Galvestonian is a sweet hotel.
And lastly, Tillman’s Mardi Gras ball is freaking spectacular.

When we go to Galveston we go at least to Jamaica beach or further west. It's plenty good for getting your beach fix. No, it's not like Florida beaches but still fine.

Of course it’s possible. Just don’t need to get uppity about it making proclamations and such like some twits have

True but for Mardi gras that is a sketchy drive back to the house/cabin.

Can't argue.

I bet it is. OT baller status is needed though.
