I commend you for trying. I wish you wouldn't stop. Let people see you as an example and hopefully join forces.

link? And don't give me any BS about Brooklyn,Bronx, etc. The only reason they changed, was they gentrified the area and pushed the people out, thus lowering crime.

I think uneducated people on both sides is what prevents BR (and NOLA) from getting over the hump and allowing some changes to be permanent.

Both sides want to place blame while not wanting to even take part of the blame.

Who cares who is at fault. Start working to fix it.

These things have to be a two way street and, unfortunately, it's not the case. We've seen a mayor basically win on an animosity platform and has surrounded herself with those who are of the same mindset. They "want to get what they're owed/what's rightfully theirs". It's hard to convince people to stay and contribute when they're told that their time is over.

Be like Detroit. The suburbs are amazing. One of the largest collections of wealth I have seen. Those people don't give a frick about what Detroit has become. They just show up for Lions and Tigers games.

I didn't mean to insinuate that "they are the problem"

Just that the solution to the problem isn't running away from it.
And as many people pointed out, attempting to offer solutions results in labels of racism and insults.

Sitting there and just accepting the awful situation does nothing either.

At some point, people are expected to look after themselves.

Your stance is to stay and accept it.

How do you expect anyone to do that and raise a family in an enviroment like this?

How do you recommend people go about this?

With the current city government, what do you recommend that they do?

I don't know, I don't expect the government to raise my child.

Personally I was tired of the way AP was run. I realized I could alter my life rather than expect them to change status quo. So, I left.

Become active in the community you want to see change.

Golfer seemed to be working in that right direction. He definitely met adversity. It sucks he stopped.

Can you be more specific and avoid the platitudes?

Show up at council meetings.
Really work to get you, or your candidate elected.
Demand involvement from like minded people.
Hold those in power publically responsible.

I'm a white male that's a registered republican living in district 7. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how I can achieve this.
