Hard to believe that this OT 10 babe CEO could be so incompetent

quote:

FTX offered high leverage to retail, giving them a massive edge and guaranteed revenue stream.

Casino with benefits.

Alameda had access to the order book and could front run retail.

And these mentally incapable arse clowns still lost billions and ended up insolvent.

In all seriousness, as shady as this set up was, how could you not turn huge profits having access to this sort of information?

Didn't she say she only needed elementary math to work there?

Edit: I stand corrected, not what she meant/said.

Yes, which would make it all more understandable how she was so incompetent not to utilize the data and front run. She's dumb.

Because they weren’t as bright as many are making them out to be. Enjoy prison though.

If you have access to the data of how retail/individual investors are moving, and have that data before everyone else does, you can front-run the market meaning you can buy or sell before their trades are executed. You can short the market or buy ahead of the rest as things are moving.

ETA: Alemda had access to the trade orders from FTX. They shouldn't have but they were given a back door to see the orders. Impossible to lose having that sort of info yet they somehow did.

quote:

Front-running is trading stock or any other financial asset by a broker who has inside knowledge of a future transaction that is about to affect its price substantially. A broker may also front-run based on insider knowledge that their firm is about to issue a buy or sell recommendation to clients that will almost certainly affect the price of an asset.

The “order book” is where regular joes place buys and sells

They knew where the normies thought the market was heading and could’ve dumped or pumped the market to take all their funds. When you’re trading with leverage, you’ll be liquidated and lose everything if it goes too far in one direction

Its not like you need to be a math wizard to front run.

"Awww retail is about to buy a bunch of this, so we buy it first and sell when the price goes up."

You have to be actively stealing to frick that up.
