If you work anywhere in the casino....you are not allowed to gamble there on your days off.

ETA: at least that was the case at the Belle

Most places in Vegas allow staff below management to gamble in places they work.

Some even allow them to cash paychecks at the casino cage and give them "free play" for doing it. Kinda sad seeing the cage line long on paydays.

I always found it kinda sad how people think slot machines "get hot" or "are due" etc. I'd try and explain they operated on random number generator but they'd never listen.

They even named it, "The Gamblers Fallacy". People that understand math generally stay away from casinos, or if they do go they do so with the knowledge they are going to leave with less money.

The Indian casino on Hwy 167 north of Pineville does.

I have never heard of a casino north of Pineville. Paragon is south of Alexandria, on LA1.

Also why they don’t have windows.

Well, there's also a security aspect along with keeping the people inside focused on gambling. There's a lot less to worry about with a solid wall.

I've always thought that Paddock the Vegas Shooter must have lost tons at casinos. I mean the guy was playing high stakes video poker. Getting comps etc. He must've lost his arse.

But gambling is OK in their book? As much as I'd like to believe the NAs care about alcoholism, they're still charging $10/beer at the Seminole in Tampa. What does that tell you?

Seems odd to me too.

It's weird how some groups are selective about their values.

Some comedian I once heard made that point about Charlotte, NC. He said he went to a convenience store looking for a lottery ticket and was told "this is the Bible Belt. We don't believe in that here", to which the comic replied "then how do you explain all the adult porn shops and titty bars?"

In Charlotte, you can get a lap dance, you just can't "scratch and win"...

Video poker has a positive EV if you know what you're looking for, you play perfectly, and you take advantage of all the comps, perks, and freebies the casino offers. Some machines (VERY few these days) straight up have positive EV, even without casino giveaways. They literally will pay out more than you put in over the long run if you have the cash to keep playing and the discipline to grind on the machine without fricking up the strategy.

It has always been my theory that losing all his money drove him to do what he did. His finances and how he made his money contrary to what the conspiracy nuts want you to believe is well documented. He did well in real estate, was able to live large, and support a gambling addiction mainly off the cash flow of a Dallas apartment complex he owned, but he sold it leaving him about 5 million bucks, and no monthly cash flow. He quickly burned through the money that took a lifetime to make, was too old to start over, he snapped and did what he did.

This gets back to the observation about wisdom and intelligence being separate attributes in folks and only mildly related in dosages to individuals.

It is rare to find a person who is Very Smart AND Very Wise gambling in a casino.

was told by someone working at an Indian casino in Oklahoma that casinos owned by Indian tribes don't serve alcohol due to the fact that the alcoholism rate among the Native American population is astonishingly high. They simply don't want to promote drinking.
Well that's absolutely false.
