Ask your friends when their "daughter" turns 18. That should creep them out and maybe you won't have to hang out with them anymore

a little more info, the family has 4 children 2 girls, 2 boys...the transgender is the oldest.

all homeschooled until 3 years ago

he did have trouble I think fitting in HS...but he had his group of friends...so never really thought about it much...

"our friends " did divorce a year ago...the wife has her own issues.

Rough seeing the family torn apart...

The official announcement " I going full-time as a girl" was made last week on Facebook ...

We live in different time that is for sure. It really started dawning on me when I went to watch A&M play at State 2 years ago or so. They had several guys in the flag section of the band which I found to be weird as shite. So I talked about it with my kids as we drove home and they explained that there were several kids in thier class that were gay. That was shocking because we are talking about middle school/freshman kids. Plus Madison, MS isn't any where near as "progressive" as some place like San Francisco. Not sure what is driving it but it is definitely a different standard than when I went to HS in the late 80's.

Edit......"home schooled" sort of explained it to me.

There were just as many gay people in high school in the late 80s. Only difference is they were afraid to tell anyone.

there are other things parents can do besides encourage it. One, get the kid some mental help. Two, loving someone doesn't always mean condoning or encouraging them. This is especially true when their behavior is abnormal and destructive.

why is being homeschooled a big factor?

The other children seem fine

If their son had told them he wanted to become a lizard instead and wanted to get surgery to have a forked tongue and horns implanted on his skull, should they have encourage this as well?

Being home schooled does not cause someone to be transgender lol

Not sure which band had flag boys, but the flag boys must have been one of the least weird things in Starkville that day.

There are churches who can "pray the gay" out of 'em.

Maybe someone could start there.

We are talking about kids coming out in "middle school" (i.e. 7th & 8th grade). This conversation happened the autumn of their freshman year and they already had classmates claiming to be gay
