I used to subtly slip the car into neutral from the passenger seat and enjoy the subsequent freak out

That was pretty harmless though

Yes we did, but who knows how more stupid we would have been with the same technology.

Probably faked. Buddy had a car that you could pull the key out of the ignition and nothing happens.

The music stops before he even takes the keys out of the ignition. I haven’t driven a car in 10 years that did that. Always had to open the door. Screams fake.

Years ago, I represented a guy on a Louisiana charge who was involved in a bizarre Texas case. In Texas, the man was driving with his mother and a cousin when the cousin grabbed the steering wheel and swerved the car into the oncoming lane of traffic. The driver served 10 years because his mother was killed in the wreck. Apparently, nobody believed that his cousin would intentionally swerved the car into oncoming traffic.

After the man got out of jail, his cousin was riding with his mother and the cousin swerved his mother's car in the traffic, killing her. Apparently, both accidents were the cousin's suicide attempts.

The Texas authorities obviously figured out that my client was telling the truth about the accident. Since he had already served his time, there wasn't a lot they could do for him. However, the district attorney in Louisiana gave him a huge break figuring that the system owed him one.

What are we supposed to believe happened? At worst the car would just lose power and coast, right?

True story:

I was taking driver's ed class in high school in 1970 - I had my license and knew how to drive. The instructor was a football coach. There are four of us in the car - I'm driving, coach in front passenger seat and two students in back seat. I'm driving up a fairly steep hill on a two-lane road with traffic. Coach reached over and turns the key off and keeps the key in his hand. Car stops quickly in road - I step on brake to keep from rolling backwards into car in back of us. He asked me "what do you do now?" I said if you don't give me key back, I'm getting out of the car and put my hand on door handle. Cars in back of us start to blow their horns. He gives me key back, I start car back up and resume driving. He keeps telling me where to turn but I ignored him and drove straight back to school, stopped the car, turned it off, gave him the key, got out and walked away - as did the kids in the back seat. I never showed up to another of the classes he taught and got an A. This was 1970 for calibration - different times.

An ex put my car into reverse while I was driving once.
That’s when she became my ex.

My truck key used to be able to come out with no problem (Wouldn't even have to turn it off, it would just slide out.)

Used to freak people riding with me out when I would throw the key to them while driving down the road
