Oh look, a Mitch apologist. What do we want him to do? I don't know, maybe continually acknowledge the murder problem in pretty much three areas of the city. Not take his foot off the brakes and attend conferences in the Vatican and rabble on about Confederate statues. That would be a nice gesture.

I am willing to bet if the Assessor properly assessed 1000s of homes in the 70124, 70125, 70118, 70130 and 70115 and the Quarter.....we could find money for the cops to police other zip codes!

No, not at all. Just weary of slogans like 'Black Lives Matter' when the homicide rates portray the opposite and weary of politicians who would rather chase windmills than confront the carnage within their environs....if one's life truly matters and if a politician truly wishes to serve the public in a meaningful way, then conduct oneself accordingly

Maybe get in front the camera and preach about murders like he did about statues

Lack of tax receipts is not the problem.

What do you want him to do? The money isn't there to beef up the police force. Nola has a lot of freeloading assholes that don't pay taxes. Nothing he can do about that.
That's because he spent it all on other vote getting programs.

That's really low for Shreveport.

He's had multiple press conferences in the last few months addressing the murders. But again, how is it his fault? What can HE do to combat the shitty lifestyle these people continue to want to lead? Even with more police on the streets it wouldn't change. How does a single person change the mind of a 15yr old that is running around in broad daylight shooting at a car? Or an inmate that decides to shoot a cop? Or a guy that shoots up a Mother's Day party? Stop looking at the (D) behind his name and use your head. The violent culture that is growing in this city has nothing to do with the mayor.

Agreed. There is a segment of society in N.O. that has violence ingrained in it. The Mother's Day shooting, several along parade routes and on Bourbon St all had a police presence within 50' or 100'. Some of these frickers just don't care. No impulse control.
Mitch is a politician to his core. He is frequently on the evening news at a murder scene, sleeves rolled up and tie lossened, announcing to the cameras that "it's unaccepatable and we won't stand for it." That act is for YOU. The frickers killing each other don't watch the evening news.
The grim reality is that not much can be done in the short term to reduce the murder rate. Societal changes will need to take place and that doesn't happen overnight.

Shreveport 10
Kenner 7
Kenner has a third of the population of Shreveport but almost as many murders. That kind of sad.

Well, Shreveport isn't really La so we can stop the comparisons.
