French Quarter residents question

My GF will be moving to FQ for a year. Her friend is taking a temp job overseas and is allowing her to stay free while she is gone.
How is it living there? Seems like fun but maybe a PITA at the same time.

I've never lived in the FQ but I'd say get a parking spot in a close garage and avoid her having to walk to or from her apartment by herself at bad hours if at all possible

How's the parking situation at her friend's place? I think that would be the biggest PITA outside of Mardi Gras.

I lived in the 1200 block of bourbon for a while before moving across canal street, been in this hood for about 8 years or so I guess.
The quarter is no different than any other neighborhood, fits the traditional definition imo

Tell her street cleaning is on Tuesdays. If she's parked on the street at 8am, the car will be gone by 8:01.

She live in River Ridge now. She is forty two and works from home. She has a dedicated parking spot in a lot next door that is shared with a hotel. The unit is on Barracks near the Old Mint.

It's awesome and a great time. Liver enzymes will be extremely elevated.
The only issue is parking. Which can be a PITA, but she'll eventually figure out the patterns.
A dog for safety wouldn't be the worst idea.
