I think this story is far from over. I predict a civil lawsuit.
From the video, The dead guy was really drunk and fumbling around the street knocking on doors for an unknown reason. I would guess that he wanted a bathroom but that’s just a guess.
He likely has family so I would expect that they will file a civil lawsuit against the shooter. The national media could make a big stink about it too.

All homeowner has to say is “I felt threatened”.

Of course. I’m a gun owner, concealed carry card holder and experienced shooter.
In my coursework I’ve been told time and again to avoid shooting an intruder if at all possible for various reasons but a big one is the likelihood of a lawsuit. Defending yourself can be very expensive.
You better have a very good story.
This one, because of the video, makes it real hard to believe that the dead guy was a threat. He appears to have knocked on the door. He didn’t appear to have a weapon. It was daylight. There were others around.
Lawyers will be salivating to get ahold of this one just to make a point. I understand that the law is on the side of the shooter but lawyers like challenging these things.

I’m impressed by the lady holding the grocery bag. Solid situational awareness. She was well aware of the dangerous, drunken thug loitering across the street and crosses over to stay on the opposite side of him.
Also given this man’s clear comorbidities he probably wouldn’t have lived another 5 years anyway. Not sure we should even classify this a death by shooting.
