Um, I don't think you understand the OT. They want bad New Orleans news, so they can hate on us and feel better about their own strip mall & fast food suburban hell holes.

Given how well the city has done previously with technology purchases I would expect dialup speed.

You are right..New Orleans previous tech projects like the SWB billing system, crime cameras and educational software have all gone so well with no issues. I trust our tax cheating and drunk dtiving Mayor and council to do the same top notch job they always do.

They tried this downtown circa 2009 or so and it didn’t work.
If it didn't work 11 years ago, it's probabky not even worth trying.

This was my first thought, city wide public wifi sounds like a hackers dream.

By the way, the city still has not recovered from the "Cyber Attack".

Will that help communications to expedite the removal of the two bodies still in the Hard Rock clusterfrick? Those families have to be agonizing.

Most people aren't aware, but most major cities in Europe have free wifi in the city. New Orleans is an international destination, and they should absolutely have this, but as everyone else as said, i'm sure they'll frick it up and it won't work most of the time, or worst, you'll connect to it and get your identity stolen or something.

I thought we already spent taxpayer money on this.

It's called a public library.
