Fr. Than Vu, former LSU chaplain, has passed away
Posted by TN Bhoy

quote:
St. Aloysius Parish in Baton Rouge has announced the death early this morning of the Very Rev. Than Ngoc Vu, its pastor and diocesan vicar general. Father Than, 56, succumbed peacefully after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral arrangements will be announced when these are finalized. Please pray for the repose of his soul, and in sympathy with his sister, other family members, fellow clergy, parishioners and all others who mourn his passing. "May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."
May his memory be eternal

I remember fr. Vu when I went to college 10-15 years ago. A very nice and good man.

Wow. Thanks for posting, I wasn't aware that he was sick. I was fortunate to have been a member of St. Patrick's when he was pastor there. He knew everybody's name and memorized every Gospel reading. Amazing priest, a big loss for the diocese.
I knew him at Christ the King. He was an inspiring and humble person with a great sense of humor. He knew every Gospel by heart and never read from the book. The diocese won't be the same without him. He will be deeply missed by many.

If you needed to pass a final, he was the man to talk too.........such a calming voice.
I admitted to him I didn't study for one at all until night before, we said a prayer..........BOOM B+

Great human being. He has done a lot for St. Aloysius and he will be sadly missed

Could not have said it better. Truly one of the kindest human beings I have ever met. The amount of respect I had for that man can never be duplicated.

Does anybody know what happened to the organist that collapsed during mass over the holidays?
