You don't get it because you misremember it.
People love to talk about how "Married With Children" would never fly today, but they had an episode in 1989 about filming a porn that the network wouldn't air due to fears of pushback. That episode eventually aired in syndication in 2002. There are countless other examples of shite like that from older TV shows. Hell, the Ellen show with Ellen DeGeneres lost a ton of sponsors and eventually was cancelled when her character on the show came out of the closet, so the absurdity from both sides of the PC aisle is ridiculous.
That being said, you can be against the PC movement without condoning racist comments. I don't understand why that is so difficult for people to grasp.
