The special forces isn't suited for an all out war, that's why we have the Marines and army.

infantry.. and good infantry. But are they really necessary ? I'm not sure they are. Most of the army isnt either. Air force and navy.. throw the money to them.

You do realize that in order for us to win wars we have to have a presence on the ground right?

Apparantly he doesn't. He seems to be symptomatic of a very common and very flawed view of war fighting held by many here based on nothing more than watching CNN and playing endless hours of Call of Duty.

Our typical infantry hasnt exactly been a massive success recently btw.

Our "typical infantry" wrecks shop everywhere it's told to. Don't confuse the results of politics with the results of the infantry.

You join a long line of people who have said this over the years. They all have one thing in common: they've all been proven wrong again and again. You don't own a piece of land until you're standing on it. That's what the infantry does.

Bingo. The military will change and evolve. Things will come and go as technology progresses. But the three things that will always be needed is infantry, armor/cavalry, and artillery. They date back to ancient days and will still be the backbone of any serious military force as long as civilization survives.

It's the exact opposite of this. We don't need a large infantry to fight defensive wars.

the question is this: what the frick are we spending all of that money on?

we spend WAAAAAy too much on our military

and yet, saying that, we somehow are grinding the marines down? how does that make any sense?

You could not be more wrong if you tried. Look, just stop. You're embarrassing yourself at this point.

No country on the planet has the resources to wage a war on U.S soil.

A lot of it is R&D. Some of those projects are vital, but others probably could be cut/have their pace slowed.

Also we still have op's ongoing which most of those other countries (with Russia being an exception) do not.

Fox News and conservatives are for smaller government. Now why are they advocating more government spending?

They're not. Advocating to repeal the cuts that Obama put in place DA. Big difference.
