Alcohol is pretty damn addictive and that’s legal. Making something legal isn’t going to cause more people to be addicted .

I'm a firm defender of the notion that most drugs should be legalized and taxed.

Not opiates.

I've seen too many people die or ruin their lives. It is a completely different animal than alcohol as far as risk of addiction. They are on different planets.

Can there not be a pothead discussion without bringing alcohol into it?? Ha.

My cousin has fibromyalgia and their miracle drug OxyContin is the only thing that gives him relief from the horrible pain

Get him on weed and/or CBD oils. They will cure him.

Actually it has. I believe it was either Switzerland or Sweden legalized heroin a while back when they had an epidemic and crime drastically dropped. They had clinics where people would go legally shoot pharmaceutical heroin and go about their lives.

I’m not gonna tell him to get hooked on street drugs when he can get safe medicine made by doctors

Portugal and Netherlands both do something like this.

And neither started selling opiate pills over the counter.

They just decriminalized possession to end the incarceration cycles and gave addicts "safe places" to get heroin and use, while also counseling and giving them outpatient rehab services. They're basically methadone clinics.

I am ALL for decriminalizing small time possession completely. Absolutely. But we shouldn't sell opiates to whoever wants them without a prescription like we do for alcohol and should for marijuana.

The mj genie was never really in the bottle. When most people have used it’s not really some Pandora’s box being opened here

This sounds great and all but I honestly prefer Darwinism taking out these poor decision makers. We are better off if those people die from an OD in a crack house than if they are getting shot up in a clinic and walking amongst us.

These people should not have the stigma eased off of them for being drug addicts.

You can OD on opioids all day long but don't you dare try a little bit of the devil's lettuce. The DEA
