Well that's one way to cut costs I guess.
Just leave shite out.
I think Ford was the one that also left out parts of a front corner bumper brace on pickups that were not the larger four door models. Presumably because they knew only the larger four door models would be the ones crash tested by IIHS.

This should not affect anyone on the OT. We all have powered front seats.

I trash Ford because they consistently peddle garbage.....but our last Camry was a massive piece of shite. It was the exact opposite of our 4Runner, which was bulletproof.
Interesting. I drive Ford trucks and haven't had any issues. Before that I drove Chevy Suburbans, my last sub ended up with 260k miles on it before maintenance outweighed buying a new truck.
My guess is every "mainline" brand gets issues now and then.

Suburbans, Express vans and Silverados have been pretty consistently sturdy. Gas powered F-250s and Econoline vans are also pretty solid.
My previous employer's fleet had a lot of the above vehicles. The issues they had were with the diesel Fords build after 2006 or so and pretty much all of the Mercedes Sprinter vans. Those things really sucked.

It's like they put the trucks together on Christmas Eve without reading the instructions and had a few pieces and parts leftover and just said "frick it".

Audi is the kind of car that you keep a spare quart of oil in the trunk after about 10,000 miles. Then two spare quarts after 50,000 miles.

I just got a recall on the engine block heater for mine. Transmission is still acting up. Should I just wait until I get this new recall in the mail to bring it back for all three?

This looks bad for Ford, but this will be a Tier 1 supplier issue.
Trying to understand it, I'm guessing the powered seats don't need the pawl, because the seat motor restrains seat movement, whereas the manual seats need this pawl added.
Since the seats, both power and manual style, are assembled on the same line, the worker just left off the necessary pawl.
Whups

Damn. Is that 1,000 or did you mean 10,000?
We had a Subaru 2.5L flat four that burned about 1 quart every 5,000 miles - started happening around 50,000 miles. It drove me crazy. Our old Silverado started burning about a quart between oil changes (7500 miles) after I put about 130,000 miles on it. That wasn't as bad but still annoying to me.
I can understand a high mileage engine doing about a quart every oil change, but apparently the boxer engines that Subarus use are known for burning a lot of oil even with low mileage.
At any mileage or age, a quart every 1,000 miles is indicative of a serious problem. You should get your F-150 checked. I know the 5.4L V8 and the newer turbo V6 engines have some oil consumption issues, but a quart every 1,000 miles is well above the acceptable level of consumption for even lower tier manufacturers like Fiat or Ford. They will fix it if its under warranty.

Go buy one of the remaining 2019 gas powered Silverado HD pickups. They are sturdy as hell and probably on sale now that the 2020 models are coming in with more powerful gas motors. The Vortec 6.0L V8 is excellent for buyers that need an extremely reliable engine but aren't that concerned with fuel economy.

The Ford assembly line reminds me of the Doc Hollywood scene where the mechanic hands Dr. Stone a shoebox full of spare parts and says "there's always parts left over when I put the cars back together".

I'm willing to bet that you'll never see a recall involving turn signals because they are rarely used these days.
If they are used, they are left on until the next song on the playlist is done and they can hear the audible blink.

Ford diesels did go through a period when they were trying to deal with the environmental regs where they had to be "bullet proofed" after purchase.
Now they are damn solid and have better longevity than the others. I love the cummins diesel engine, but dodge/ram can't seem to build a decent truck around it.

I wouldn't touch any Ford diesel after the 7.3L was discontinued.
The company that designed those horrible Ford Powerstrokes has since given up and now uses the vastly superior and proven General Motors 6.6L Duramax V8 diesel in their medium duty trucks.

Park it in north Baton Rouge and keep the doors unlocked.
