If I'm 1 of the mega conglomerates I'm buying up BBC, HGTV, Hallmark, TBS/TNT, Bravo, A&E, Discovery, Primetime, etc. ASAP (I don't know who is currently owned by what megas-but if they aren't, I'm making those moves).

Almost all of these are already owned by a conglomerate, whether it be Comcast or AT&T (Warner). Most people really have no idea who owns what when it comes to media but in general, it is the same 3-4 companies owning everything

Consumers are begging for one streaming service that can offer them movies, tv shows, and live streaming of events.

So, cable. They want cable.

I'm not pro-cable or anything, but I've always sort of laughed at people who try act like they're saving a ton of money through cord cutting despite doling out money for several subscriptions.

"My cable was too high, so I saved a ton by cutting the cord and getting high speed internet and Sling, Netflix, Prime, Hulu, HBO Now, and ESPN+."

Disney puts a blockbuster like Avengers Endgame on its platform the same day it opens in theaters

the author is a fricking idiot, they will never do this.

people have been calling for the death of Netflix basically since inception, yet they continue to innovate and be out ahead of the game.

The other ones launching their own streaming services are the ones that need to be cautious before investing tons of capital in them because eventually there's going to be a push back. Some of them would be better off partnering up to rival the libraries of Disney and Netflix.

Right.
I was trying to get there in my post.
What I'd do as a corporate greed monger is be sure buy those specific channels as they have the biggest fan bases outside the major network channels. Kill whatever competition I can until it gets down to the 3 or 4 super channel/stream options.
