re: For those who have had Invisalign - how many trays did you need before finishing?

I did braces at 37. I didn't want invisalign and it wasn't an option for me. If I just needed cosmetic stuff done I probably would not have done it, but my bite needed to be aligned or I was going to loose some of my bottom teeth. My parents wouldn't pay for braces when I was a kid, whatever.

I definitely had 3 or 4 sets of refinements. I don't remember how many trays overall, but it seemed like it took forever. What should have been 6 months was closer to 10.
And for reference, I had braces in middle school and was only correcting one slight tooth shift. It's a process. Hang in there!

I had ceramic braces on for 7 months, wouldve been less without covid. Basically couldnt go see the ortho for an entire month. then went to the clear retainer I have to wear for the rest of my life.
If I had to do it again, braces all the way. I couldnt imagine constantly doing the trays and taking them out everytime I ate. The braces were half the price, and it even took a couple of months for my mom to notice I had gotten them. Some of my friends still don't know I even had them. Or they just never said anything.
Oh I'm 35

You’d be surprised how easy it is. My dentist cautioned against it though. She said mostly what you did. People forget, poor compliance, and the teeth end up moving and causing problems.
I hated the idea of a permanent retainer. About 80% of why I did invisalign instead of regular braces. I also still floss 2-3x per day and brush at least twice per day. So the evening routine is brush, floss, put in retainers, go to bed.
The weekends when I’m up late, eating and drinking, is when I relax a little on that routine. But Su-Th I’m diligent about it.

Do you have a deep bite?
I think it is more efficient to correct deep bites with brackets and wires.
Invisilign works great, but sometimes people try to do too much with them and you wind up with never ending cases.

My Invisalign treatment lasted a total of 11 months, but I don’t recall the exact amount of new trays I wore during that time. I use the retainer each night while sleeping and all is well. The process overall was easy. I wish I would have done it a long time ago.
