Can you get 2x4’s and hog wire panels?
If so you could throw something together with a drill pretty quick. They won’t break out of hog wire.

If they are the collapsible metal cage ones you can zip tie the hell out of it to keep them in.

I have not posted this publicly, because I know there are lots of people who are struggling, and immediate help I think needed to take the spotlight.
My parents have a hole through the roof of their home, and they’re not well off, and have no insurance. I started a Venmo because a few friends asked how to help, if you want to send to it then it would be greatly appreciated, if you don’t feel led to then that’s okay too. My dad is a pastor and we grew up In a family of faith and determination, and I fully believe that helping others puts favor in your path, and that something will come to take care of them.

Admins, if this isn’t okay, please feel free to mark it unreadable.

Not directly an answer to your question, but if you spill gasoline in the trunk of your car, don’t try to vacuum it up. Some dumb arse in my area recently tried that at our local car wash and blew himself and burned down the car wash!

If anyone is in the South Lafourche area and needs help please post on here and I will check as often as my service allows. I came out good as far as damage and I’m doing ok with a whole home genny and plenty of drinking and flushing water. So I’m at the point where I’m ready to help others who were less fortunate than I was.

A heavy duty garbage bag perhaps? And roll down a window.

Safe travels home alpha. God bless you all.

How far are you driving with gas in car? If it's a long distance and affordable, I would look for a universal roof rack and basket and strap the cans to the roof. Would check auto parts places and maybe on line depending on how quick you want to get on the road.

Thanks for the offer.
I am still waiting on Water. Even though there is water tower down my street.
I still need to clean up the yard, but have been lucky to have family to help remove the tree from the roof tarp the roof, and board up the broken windows. They also helped to clean out all the ceiling tiles that fell.
I am debating on purchasing a generator though. Not a whole house one. Just something to keeps some lights, a window unit, and TVs on.

Tarps99,
I did see generac 6500 watt gennys at the rouses in Thibodaux. I think they were asking $799.00 for the unit. Gas can be found at the shell next to the gheens (sp) bridge but long arse line yesterday. Also Murphy in Thibodaux was open and selling gas. Line didn’t look too long.

I picked one up at Lowe’s yesterday. It is still in the box. Water was restored down our street yesterday. It is a Generac 6500 watt generator.
Since the storm, I have been “roughing it” at work where we have generator power and running water.
Now debating on whether it is worth interconnecting generator to the house to make it somewhat livable until power returns.

I know you can tie into your main service panel with 220v outlet and the proper plug on generator. My 6500 has a 4 prong twist lock plug for 220v. Be very sure to hook the wires in such a fashion that the breaker is between the service line and where you hook up . Double and triple check that the breaker is in the off position. If you hook to the same side as your service line the generator will back feed into your service lines and can cause injury or death to power line workers and anyone else that comes in contact with the energized wires. By tying into the lugs on the opposite side of the service lines and turning the breaker to off then it cannot back feed to the service lines.
Sorry if you already knew that but people with new generators sometimes make big mistakes with them. Not saying you are one of these but just putting it up for consideration.
Edit to add: also make sure you use heavy enough wire to hook between generator and service panel you don’t want an overloaded wire melting down and starting a fire. Also please don’t make a cord with male on both ends to back feed your house. This is very unsafe and can cause numerous issues besides someone getting electrocuted by the live male end. male end and it kills them. This has happened before.

Another Edit for Owlie

OWLFAN86 - I know exactly what you are talking about. My friend and I were working on an apartment complex that had power in the upstairs unit but no power in the downstairs unit that we were working on. The guy we were working for "let us use" his dads old 220 extension with both male ends and told us if we hotwired the upstairs and put it into the socket that feeds the stove and then plug it downstairs that it would feed the downstairs and we would have electricity. He was right but at the end of the day my friend unplugged the downstairs first and it shocked the crap out of him and he had a headache for a while but was ok. We never tried that again. Bad memories. Great lesson.

If you're planning to backfeed a panel, I recommend a panel interlock.
