Every small town south of 1-10 looks just as poor and run down as any poor rundown town in Red River Parish.

Have to disagree here.

Nine of the Top 10 parishes by percent of population under the poverty line are north of Alexandria, and the 10th is Avoyelles. North Louisiana has always been poorer than south Louisiana.

I've always thought this argument was ridiculous. It's a much smaller set of people than you're even calling out, because anyone west of the Mermentau or east of Mississippi gets called out as not being "real cajun" of "south Louisiana" just as much as north.

The thing that always cracks me up are the ignorant people that draw the lines for "east Texas", "cajun country", "south Arkansas", etc., and always draw places like Ville Platte and Opelousas out of Cajun Country when there is more cajun heritage in the pinky toe of T-Bob Fontenot out in Mamou than 75% of the population in Lafayette.

Lafayette isn't any different from Lake Charles. It just gets a pass from everyone because they French up the street signs and fall right in the middle of Acadiana.

I will say that north Louisiana sucks for one reason though...too many damn pine trees.

Avoyelles Parish here . . .

I get what you’re saying. How are we not Cajun and coonass enough then the people that hang out in microbreweries on the weekends in Lafayette?
It’s an argument as old as time but I think there are pockets of us above I-10 that belong in the conversation. I’d set the boundary at us though bc there is nothing Cajun about Alexandria.
I would add Natchitoches, though, went to school there and damn I love me some meat pies!

Other than the food and fishing for red fish in the gulf, what is so great about south Louisiana that makes it better than North Louisiana.

Proximity to the gulf coast beaches
Proximity to LSU sporting events
Less Cowboy fans
Proximity to MSY
Proximity to NOLA for major events like the Super Bowl, Jazz Fest, etc.

That being said, I rarely even think about North Louisiana so I don't think about it being inferior; I just don't think about it.

It's always been silly. Opelousas, Eunice, Mamou, Ville Platte and Marksville are all "North of I-10", and they couldn't exist anywhere but Louisiana.

Y’all always say this shite like it is some insult to those of us that live in North Louisiana. Got news for you, it isn’t. Other than the food and fishing for red fish in the gulf, what is so great about south Louisiana that makes it better than North Louisiana. We have great fishing lakes and hunting spots up here also. I can cook the shite out of the same types of food in my kitchen

You may cook the same dishes we cook but if you are originally from north Louisiana, there is a 100% chance that you suck at it compared to a coonass from Breaux Bridge, Houma, Napoleonville, or White Castle.

This is one reason why NLA trumps SLA. It's not filled with retard idiots stumbling through their miserable existence blinded by such unfounded arrogant stupidity. If your fat dumb mutant coonass granny can master the art of stirring flour into oil I promise you those of us who are genetically superior can.

Y’all need to get over yourselves. Most dudes in South Louisiana tend to be short. Maybe it’s just an inferiority complex you all have where you have to project so much. You know….small dick syndrome.
Now I know why I always heard ya'll described as damned yankees. Ya'll talk like Bill Clinton. and are obviously...

Now you've done it.. You have completely destroyed the only place you could find peace, harmony, and good will on the innerweb.

See what you've done!

You will have to climb Driscoll Mountain, make pennance, and reflect upon your sins at the statue of Saint Tom Landry. Take your own water and vienna sausages...there ain't none there.
