I would actually be extremely surprised if each and every single slot can be modified remotely now, too.
Obviously they don't need to, but what better way to get someone hooked than to make them think they're "lucky."

Why go through all the trouble? Most casinos have players clubs anyway. Casino's don't care about who is getting paid, time is on their side.
If you're saying they can make an individual win or lose on the slots, I don't think that's legal and it's very regulated. Why risk millions of dollars and your casino license for a petty beef?
If you say they're doing it to launder money, there's WAY easier ways of doing that at the tables.

And you also have to remember that when the player spins the machine and you win your money back that is counted as a pay out.
You make a dollar spin and you get a dollar win that counts as part of the 90% the casino has to pay.

Uh no. As I already pointed out, they don't "need" to.
What I'm suggesting is adjusting the payout pct, within legal limits, depending on the client. Newer clients would get better odds (still less than 100%, obviously) to entice them to come back.
Again, don't need to. But would be an interesting use of technology that they already have.

If you could "adjust" the machines to who is playing, wouldn't you adjust it to help the high rollers? Those that play the most.
Besides, if they favored one group over another in any way; I'd bet the state would not like that. It would be a form of cheating.

This. I would actually be extremely surprised if each and every single slot can't be modified remotely now, too. I'm not sure what kind of OS and software run on those boards now, but setting up remote access is as easy as doing it on a PC, and it would save a lot of trouble from workers having to visit each slot physically.
shite, those machines have to be connected to a central computer that allows the state to snoop in on them and read their activity to make sure that everyone's getting their cut. They're almost certainly modifiable by the casino's computer systems.

Nah, those are the base. They are already hooked . Give up higher payout as part of client acquisition.

I'd encourage high rollers to play more, they have more and the longer they stay in the casino the better the casino does.

Some good discussion. Lot of potential for casinos to both profit and fraud through slots.

Casinos have no need to commit fraud, over time they will take all of your money without having to break any law, it is just simple math.

Can the casino really adjust the slot odds as they so desire?
do you really think the Mob is lacking in scruples?
I do know there are "hot" machines, when I used to stay at a hotel in Vegas a lot, and got to know some of the employees, they would tell me which machines were "hot" that night(in the lobby bar,) when I would check in and come downstairs for a beer, you can also reserve the machine if you're kicking arse an want to take a break for a bit
ETA: have a cousin that had $600k in IRS reported earnings over a year playing slots at a casino that his daughter managed

I think there are certain regulations when it comes to slots. Not sure if that's true or what they are..

Not the casinos themselves. I meant the employees, especially with being able to adjust winning percentages.
