CAN YOU PLEASE LEARN HOW TO frickING DRIVE
Our insurance policy has gone up $317 since last year and when I called to see why my rate once AGAIN went up, she said it was because of the cost of liability insurance in Louisiana is one of the highest in the country due to accidents.

not so much accidents it's the number of uninsured drivers

I would imagine last year's flood also impacted insurance rates. Imagine how much insurance companies had to pay out in claims over flooded vehicles.

I asked, and the rep told me the increase was solely on liability due to accidents and uninsured.

You are really making a difference by bringing this to our attention.

LA is like one of the top 5 most expensive states for automobile insurance.
My dad's car insurance dropped big time when I relocated him to AZ. He's paying like 50-60 bucks a month for full coverage vs the $120-130 he was paying in LA.
ETA: And this is even after Allstate had to pay a claim for his flooded vehicle.

That's what GEICO told me as well. The guy basically said Louisiana and Mississippi have by far the most accidents

Depends on where in LA.
When I lived in north LA my insurance was incredibly lower. Not kidding.
$72 to $120 jump when I moved to Baton Rouge

Didn't realize it was that much. My wife and I pay 140/month for both of our vehicles collectively.

Shop around. Maybe your carrier knows you're a smuck and will pay it

Thats a generic insurance agent response. You gotta factor in the number of accidents and uninsured drivers in LA. But claims cost more to settle now too because vehicles have a lot more technology with backup/parking assist sensors and cameras that drive up cost of repair for even minor wrecks. The March and August 2016 floods in LA does play a role in rate increases due to the number of flooded vehicle claims paid out

I wish. I've shopped around and GEICO is still the lowest.
It costs us a hair shy of 3k a year for 2 vehicles. No wrecks, no tickets, etc.
We're moving at the end of this year so hopefully rates will change.

Look toward hispanics and other poor people as the source of this problem. States need to do more about uninsured drivers.

Show us on the hot wheel car where the Louisiana driver touched you...

There are a shite ton of Hispanics here in AZ, so you can't really blame that. A huge population of those here that are not even legal citizens. It is every AZ's resident's nightmare...to get in a wreck and realize the other person is an illegal because it just makes it a major PITA to deal with insurance wise.
Yet our insurance is still wayyyyyyyy cheaper than LA.

Does interstate shootings fall under "accidents" as well?

I'd love to see the ratio of insured/uninsured drivers in NBR.
Posted on 6/25/17 at 2:37 pm to Tres7139
They lied. Mine hasn't gone up in 7 years and I live in Louisiana
Posted on 6/25/17 at 2:41 pm to Tres7139
Livingston Parish probably has just as many as in NBR.
